"falcons wafting in the sky and squawking at each other, a miscellany of small different types of birds twittering and warbling in fabulous profusion around me, small lizards scampering out of my way - darting across the levada water with such speed that it tingled the optic nerves, the rustle of quail and the scratching of other small fry in the bushes where hundreds and hundreds of butterflies fluttered along in dappled shade off age old trees, and so on, and so on. All that was missing was a fairy or an elf to transform it into the enchanting...".

Porto Santo Golfe

The latest of the craze that golfing has become in Madeira is the all-new and refreshingly spectacular "Porto Santo Golfe" course on the island that gave the course its name. It is a mixture of traditional style of some of the better American golf courses - with lakes and scenery adorning it ornamentally - on its south loop, and a British style - a-la Saint Andrews - with a links style course on its north loop.
Santo da Serra Golf

The Santo da Serra golf course run and operated by the "Clube de Golfe do Santo da Serra" is probably the premium golf course in the archipelago. It is also home to the annual Madeira Island Open - a fixture on the European PGA tour.
Palheiro Golf Course

The Palheiro Golf course is situated in Funchal and enjoys a balcony view over the amphitheatre of Funchal. Its exotic location provides for a lot of eye candy to accompany the necessarily accurate play needed to venture through the tight but entertaining fairways.
